An invitation to the exhibition
We are pleased to invite you, starting December 13, to our Christmas exhibition “Materia e Forma”, dedicated to classical African sculpture.
The exhibition presents a selection of works in which the relationship between matter and form becomes a central element of aesthetic perception.
African sculpture and photography
The sculptures are accompanied by black-and-white photographs by Gerolamo Vigorelli, whose essential and rigorous visual language highlights surfaces, volumes, and traces of time.
The dialogue between object and image allows for a deeper understanding of the relationship between formal structure and material quality, offering a more focused and perceptive reading of the works.
An exhibition project
The exhibition anticipates the broader project “Materia e Forma”, later presented in an international context, and reflects on African sculpture as a synthesis of plastic power and the transformation of matter.

Materia e Forma and African sculpture
Materia e Forma explored African sculpture through the relationship between material presence and formal construction. The exhibition created a dialogue between objects, images and the gallery space, emphasizing how surface, volume and patina contribute to the visual power of historic works.
The project belongs to Dalton Somaré’s gallery exhibitions in Milan and connects with the African art section and related catalogues.
